David Kuok leaves for Moore

Posted on 11 Feb 2023 by Jan Tie

Since the first week of February, classes have begun for Moore Theological College students. David Kuok joined his classmates a few days late, but there is a great sense of relief for him and his whole family as they finally flew off to Sydney. The past couple of months have been challenging for the Kuoks – a new addition to their family, baby Isaiah, and a long uncertain wait for their travelling visas to be approved – all amidst packing and getting ready to leave at any time.

“Getting our visas approved took a longer time than expected because of our newborn baby. We did what we could, and the bulk of it was just waiting for the visas to be approved. Moore Theological College only has one intake every year, so missing too many weeks would have caused David to fall behind in classes, and that would have meant having to defer seminary studies for another year,” explained David’s wife, Emerlyn.

David reflected, “We’re so thankful to God that we were able to get our visas and fly off to Sydney. We’re thankful to the church for the prayers and support in many areas. In the end, everything is under God’s sovereignty, and we are grateful that His will for us is to start seminary this year. Do pray for us that we will settle down well in Sydney and we will all make the best use of our time there. Keep preaching and growing the gospel, CERC. We’ll miss you guys.”

David is CERC’s 4th seminarian and will spend the next four years at Moore College to complete a Bachelor of Theology degree. The church is actively raising funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses for David and his family for the entire period of seminary training. The total cost for these four years is estimated to be MYR924,000.

If you want to support David and see more faithful ministers trained and raised for the Malaysian churches in the years to come, please consider giving to CERC’s Theological Education Fund. For more information, please scan the QR code above.
