Robin Gan
Pastor Robin was graciously given a new life by God in his teen years and grew under the teaching of Phillip Jensen from the time he went to high school in Sydney, Australia. Subsequently after finishing a Bachelor of Commerce in U.N.S.W. and working in regional marketing in Singapore where he served in Adam Road Presbyterian, he returned to Sydney to train under Phillip in the university ministry at U.N.S.W. and the St. Matthias Anglican Church. Four years of theological study followed in Moore Theological College under the principalship of Dr. Peter Jensen and Dr. John Woodhouse. During this time he conceived of the Gospel Growth Fellowship which has grown and trained hundreds in Gospel-centered ministry. After 3 years of ministry as an ordained minister in the West Malaysian Anglican Diocese, he started the unique ministry that is CERC. He is married to Joy, and they have three children who have all been mercifully saved by God: Ilona, Alethea and Latimer, named after the Anglican martyr and Reformer.
Mark was gripped by the gospel while studying Computer Science and Business Management at the University of Birmingham, England. As a student, he was actively involved in his campus Christian Union and joined the Relay training programme run by Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) upon graduation. During the year with UCCF, Mark grew increasingly burdened by the gospel need back home, leading him to return to Malaysia in 2010 on the lookout for ways in which he could invest his life to grow the gospel.
Since becoming a member of CERC in 2011, Mark has spent a year working with the Malaysian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (FES) as well as three years on CERC's Church Ministers' Apprenticeship program. He currently leads the SS3 Growth Group, is head of the church IT department and serves as a partner of the Gospel Growth Fellowship (GGF). He is married to Leong Hui Chuin, works as n Project Manager in a local fintech company and is looking to further equip himself with theological training in the UK in the not-too-distant future. He has three children: Matthew, Ruth and Esther.
Joel was first exposed to Christianity in secondary school, but he only came to a deeper understanding about Jesus in his university years. It was in University of New South Wales that Joel joined a Gospel-centered church that taught him to read the Bible and to understand Jesus in light of the Old Testament. Being grateful for this privilege, his desire has been for more Malaysians to have access to faithful Biblical teaching, leading him back to Malaysia to look for a like-minded church.
Joel joined CERC soon after his graduation and has been a CERC member for the past 16 years. Over that period, Joel has led university as well as adult growth groups. He currently leads the SS15 Growth Group. Joel is married to Su Anne – whom he met in university. Together, they parent three little boys (Calvary, Christoph and Cairo). Currently, he works in a Credit Rating Agency as a General Manager.
Rev Dr David Peterson is CERC's Consultant on Theological Education. David has spent his entire career dedicated to the study and teaching of the Bible through seminaries, books and the pulpit. He is currently Director of Cornhill Sydney which trains people to preach and teach the Bible. He is also an Emeritus Faculty Member of Moore Theological College, Sydney where he used to be a lecturer in the New Testament. From 1996 to 2007, Dr. Peterson was the Principal of Oak Hill Theological College, London.
As an author, his notable works include The Acts of the Apostles (Pillar New Testament Commentary), Possessed by God (New Studies in Biblical Theology), and more. His research on the topics of Sexuality, Sanctification, Atonement and others can be found at davidgpeterson.com. His most recent work is Hebrews: An Introduction and Commentary. This book examines the warnings and assurances written in the Epistle to the Hebrews to encourage Christians to persevere in faith, hope, and love, and is published as part of the Tyndale New Testament Commentaries.
David is an ordained minister of the Anglican Church in Australia and has served in churches in the dioceses of Sydney, Chester and London.
