Wait...What? - The Bible shows that many Christians don’t know how much they should be loving the church

Sunday, 2 January 2022 // Wait... What? ft. God's Story

Description

Just how much should we love the church?

This is not an uncommon question to ponder. But we often do not realise that this seemingly innocent question may belie an underlying self-preservation instinct that is rooted in sin. In asking this question, we indirectly ask, “How much can I keep to myself?” Further down the line, this may become, “What is the minimum I need to do in order to love the church — or even to be a Christian?”

Jesus spared nothing at all in loving the church. He suffered in life and was crucified unto death for the sake of redeeming the church and building them up into God’s holy people.

If, as Christians, we are called to imitate Christ in all His ways, including the way He loves the church, then it’s no wonder that “the Bible shows that many Christians don't know how much they should be loving the church”.
