Hosea

Description

2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.” 3 So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. [Hosea 1:2-3]

Did the God of the Bible really ask His prophet to marry a prostitute? Is the nation of Israel so unfaithful that it has to be likened to a prostitute? It sounds so inconceivable.

We tend to read the Bible through rose-tinted glasses and gloss over its explicit truths. Folks, when we take God's word for it, we're in for a huge reality check about the way God views His own people after witnessing their ongoing unfaithfulness.
