Our Stories

December 2012

Posted on 18 Dec 2012 by Joy Gan

Dear friends,

How fast another year has gone!… We thank God for your support, prayers and partnership in the gospel that have encouraged us to persevere in doing the Lord’s work at CERC.

Here are some highlights of CERC’s ministry throughout this year to encourage you 🙂

little-people

Our Little People event held every school holidays attract about 25-30 kids each time. We’ve also had Chinese speaking kids come, thus giving us an opportunity to reach out to this language group. Some of these children have joined us at Sunday School.

good-friday

Introducing God (which ran for 10 weeks) & Good Friday evangelistic events saw many non-Christians and unchurched folks come through our doors. Everything was done in house — from the food cooked, to the waiters serving and setting up, the helpers, the cleaning team, the band as well as the messages taught by Robin. We praise God for the many non-Christians who got to hear the gospel preached clearly and faithfully.

CTC

CERC is actively involved also in helping the gospel to grow across the Klang Valley through their partnership with the Gospel Growth Fellowship. Above is one of the biggest conferences called “Creation to Consummation” — which is a Biblical Theological Conference held in the city. This year, we had the privilege of having Dr Andrew Shead, the head of the Old Testament Department at Moore Theological College, come and speak to us on “Prophecy”.

family-day

Above (left) are some of the mums having fun on our Family Day at a nearby park. Our group has grown in maturity and in fellowship with one another and it is our prayer that we would be an encouragement to the younger women in the congregation.

We also thank God for Joy’s parents (above right) — who are an amazing support to the Gan family as we do the work of the gospel here.

Jerome

Jerome (posing with Latimer here) is our 1st Ministry Training Strategy apprentice. Through his ministry, many college, University, adults, youths and children have been taught the gospel. We are seeking the generosity of Christians to help support him through Theological College this year or next (depending on how soon funds can be raised).

Swearing in

God has blessed us with more members this year who are committed in serving the gospel.

Prayer points:

  1. Thank God for the work of the gospel that has grown many in our midst — from the children, youth, university students, to the adults.
  2. Pray that God will continue to provide more workers for the gospel and that enough support can be raised to send them to good theological schools for their pastoral training.
  3. Pray that Robin will continue to have strength and wisdom as he teaches, trains and shepherds the flock at CERC.
  4. On a personal note, I, Joy, thank God for the providence of being able to work part time as a physio. It has led to many opportunities in sharing the gospel with patients as well as colleagues.

Ilona (9), Ally (6), and Laty (5) are growing more in their knowledge and love for God. Ally is joining her sister in primary school next year while Laty has one more year at Kindy.

Do keep in touch and visit us if you’re in KL!

Signing off, the Gans.
