Our Stories

February 2010

Dear friends,

Time has flown amazingly fast last year, … and we’re already heading towards the Chinese New Year! Thanks as always for your partnership in the gospel, support and prayers for us.

Just to update you on CERC (Christ Evangelical Reformed Church)…..By God’s grace, we were able to move into the shoplot before Christmas last year. We did a massive cleanup of the place, and held our first meeting there on the 24th of Dec. Since then, we’ve been meeting in our new location on Sundays, as well running trainings & growth groups (bible study groups) there. Currently, we have around 40-50 people come each week, as well as new people visiting each time.

Robin’s already started running the 3rd lot of membership classes, and around 8 people are coming along. Our bible study groups have now grown to 4, with 2 meeting at church, and 2 meeting in homes.

As for the women and children’s side, I’ve just finished running a 4 week training for a new set of Sunday school teachers (we have 10 new recruits!). We’ve had a number of children from non Christian homes, which we are thankful to God for. This year, I’m hoping to have ministry opportunities with the women 6 times this year. We had our first one when Anna Hu shared with us the benefits of doing 1-2-1. I’ll be following that up by gathering around 10+ women to read through and discuss Colossians, and to try and give them a ‘jump start’ with their own 1-2-1s in church. Do pray that God will work through these friendships / discipleships, and that women (and men) would be encouraged.

Please come and visit us if you are ever in Malaysia, and pass the word that if anyone wants to join us on Sundays, our church gathering begins at 4.45pm.

God willing, we will make a trip in May when we hope we’ll be able to meet up with you too.

Thanks again for all your prayers and partnership in the gospel.

In Christ,
Joy & Robin
