CERC starts off 2022 with a new sermon series on Hosea
27 Jan 2022
To kick start 2022, CERC launched the first of several mini series’ of the year — Hosea. This series will run from 9 January to 6 February 2022 with the five Sundays covering Hosea 1:1-3:5, 4:1-6:3, 6:4-9:6, 9:7-11:11, 11:12-14:9 respectively.
Hosea is one of the many prophets that God appointed in Israel’s time to preach against the sins of Israel and prophesy of the restoration and salvation God would bring through judgment. Among the prophets, God has at times commanded some of them to use their bodies as real-life analogies for Israel to learn about the seriousness of their sin against God. Hosea himself was commanded by the Lord to marry a prostitute, in order to show the people of Israel the whoredom they have displayed in their covenant with the Lord.
What is the sin of Israel that God calls whoredom? What will God do about the rebellion of His covenant people? What does the book of Hosea mean for the church today? This sermon series answers these questions by diving into Hosea, revealing the heart of this Holy God toward His spiritually-adulterous people, warning the church today of sin, and calling for repentance and trust in the only One who can save.Â
