Something exciting is brewing in CERC’s Sunday School. In 6 separate locations around Sunway, Superintendents Chuan Khai, Soo Jia Ying, Adrian Lam, Lucas Tan, Au Soung Hui, Joyce Yee, Clovey Goh, Xin Le, and Ilona Gan were excitedly preparing for the next phase in Sunday School.
Kindy 2 Teachers getting excited about bringing Sunday School to the next level!
Planning efforts began on Friday, 15th May 2026. Superintendents Clovey, Ilona and Adrian Lam ran lesson-writing workshops to help the younger teachers improve their writing skills. During the workshop, teachers discussed their writing processes and identified ways to improve the quality of their lessons through better research methods, frameworks, and time management. We also announced the big changes happening in Sunday School – we are moving and changing our class times to 9:30 – 11:30am!

After that, teachers broke into smaller planning groups led by Joy Gan, Lee Su Anne, Robyn Wong and Ashley Tang. In these groups, the teachers planned fun and visual lessons that would progressively build the children’s understanding of the Lord, so that as a Sunday School, we can keep preaching the gospel to them with increasing depth and clarity. Songs were selected, exciting games were created, and interactive crafts were designed.

By Saturday, 16th May 2026, 11 lesson drafts had been produced, 15 Main Points and Supporting Points were improved upon, and 1 Series Brief was written. When asked for a sneak peek of the lessons Junior 3 is preparing for the upcoming CERC Camp, Superintendent Soo Jia Ying said, “You can look forward to the parables and wisdom literature from the gospels.” After a pause, she also added, “As we learn about the rich fool and counting the cost, my hope is that the teachers are reflecting on it too as they teach the lessons.”

Overall, it was a fruitful time of planning and sharpening one another. “I really enjoyed the time we got to work on the study with our fellow teachers, and that we could just ask for feedback anytime!” said Jevonne Wee, one of the newest Kindy 1 Teachers.
For Xin Yuan, this was her first Sunday School Planning Retreat as the incoming Superintendent for Kindy 2. “I am thankful for this opportunity to get to know the Kindy 2 teachers, so that I can pastor them and the kids better.”
As preparations continue, the Sunday School team looks forward to serving the children with greater clarity, creativity, and faithfulness, trusting that God will use His Word to build them up for years to come.
