The Road Ahead

5 Aug 2025

CERC has always been more than a building.

Born out of a conviction to grow the gospel faithfully, CERC began in 2008 as a bold church plant, preaching the gospel without fear or favour. It started in Pastor Robin’s living room with just a handful of Christians and a deep trust in God’s Word. With little money, scarce recognition, and only God to trust, it was a do-what-you-can-with-what-you-have kind of beginning.

CERC’s first meeting place in Pastor Robin and Joy’s house, affectionately called No. 26

From that small living room, the church moved to its first rented shop lot, then again to a larger shop lot nearby. Each move came as the church grew: new believers were discipled, leaders were trained, ministries were launched, and apprentices were raised. At every step, it was God who gave the growth.

It’s become a pattern: CERC makes room for more, and God gives growth.

Now, CERC has outgrown its building yet again.

For the first time in CERC’s history, a permanent home is within reach. Not just a bigger space, but a base for long-term gospel ministry in the Klang Valley. A place where more people can be taught, trained, and sent. A place where ministry can multiply, not just survive.

It’s a new home built not for comfort, but for a people who have carried the weight of ministry with faith, sacrifice, and resolve, even in the face of opposition; a church that has poured itself out for the gospel and now needs a space to keep growing.

In God’s perfect timing

After months of prayer, planning, and negotiation, a milestone was reached. On Monday, 28th July 2025, the owner of the building CERC hopes to buy signed the church’s offer letter, marking a key step in the long journey toward securing a permanent home.

The offer letter doesn’t finalise the purchase. Due diligence is still ongoing, and legal and financial steps lie ahead. But it represents serious intent and a shared understanding that this move is both possible and worth pursuing.

A church prepared by The Gospel

This move hasn’t been made in isolation. In the months leading up to the signing, the proposal was brought before the members in a series of Meet the Elders sessions, ensuring the wider church was involved, informed, and prayerfully engaged at every step. Members were invited to hear the vision, ask questions, and weigh the implications of such a significant step.

The response was overwhelming: 100% of the members voted in favour.

It wasn’t a decision made lightly. But it reflected a church that, through years of teaching, sacrifice, and shared ministry, has been steadily prepared by God to take on greater responsibilities.

A Gospel investment

With the building now in sight, the focus turns to the next phase: raising the funds needed to make it a reality.

Through the 21for21 campaign, CERC is calling on its members and long-time supporters to give sacrificially toward this effort. The goal is bold: to raise RM21 million before the church’s 21st anniversary.

The fruit of 17 years of gospel work in CERC

But this isn’t just about hitting a number. It’s about investing in a gospel future, securing a base where more people can hear the Word, be discipled in truth, and trained to serve Christ wherever they are sent. It’s about making space for the next generation of gospel workers, the next wave of apprentices, the next challenge in doing ministry.

This building is not the end. It’s a means to do more of what the church was planted to do.

The Road Ahead

For 17 years, God has sustained CERC through joy and hardship, growth and sacrifice, weakness and strength. And now, as the church looks ahead to a permanent home, the prayer is the same as it’s always been that God would continue to provide, protect, and grow the work of the gospel in Malaysia.

The road ahead may be long but the God who brought CERC thus far will not fail.
